Welcome calls are an important step in onboarding new volunteers to a local chapter. They are an opportunity to find out why the new volunteer decided to join CCL and their interests and skills, as well as informing them about opportunities for participating in chapter activities.
It’s also important to log welcome calls in the Action Tracker, so Group Leaders know that a new volunteer has been introduced to CCL and offered opportunities for engagement. When we log people’s actions it also helps demonstrate our grassroots strength.
Here is how to log a welcome call:
Open the Action Tracker. There is a link in the top menu Tools dropdown, available on every page, or select the link at top of your Dashboard.
Select “Chapter & Volunteer Development” as the action type.
Below the default settings for policy area, level of government, and international options, click “Next.”
For details about your development action, select “Other.”
Then, in the pop-up form, enter name of activity (Welcome Call), date of call, and any notes.
Click "Next."
Enter the chapter and then select the name of the volunteer you welcomed from the list that appears.
Finally, click the “Submit” button to log the call.
