For CCL Chapter Group Leaders and Chapter Admins, the Chapter Roster is a key management tool. A Chapter Roster shows all the members of a local chapter. It is like a spreadsheet with data about each member, including their contact information, privileges, interests, and other items.
Chapter Group Leaders and Admins can access their roster in several ways:
- In the “My Tools” block on your Dashboard
- From the Tools link on top of every page
- From the “Admin” link on your chapter home page
See this article for detailed instructions.
Using the Chapter roster, Group Leaders can look up member information, determine members’ interests, grant or edit member privileges, find recently joined members, and download spreadsheets of member data.
The roster is organized into tabs that show different kinds of member information..
Member Contact Info Tab
The default tab is Member Contact Info. Here you see any member’s first and last name, email, phone number (if provided), city, congressional district, join date, and any notes entered by a Group Leader.
Sorting
You can sort any field ascending or descending. At the top of the roster you can search any field or multiple fields. For example, you could search for members residing in a specific district and city.
Editing a member
You can also edit member data by selecting the “Edit” button next to their name. In this screen, Group Leaders and Admins can update member contact information, grant or remove privileges, update member interests, change a member to text opt-out, and move a member to a different local chapter or congressional district. See these articles (and information below) for instructions:
- Update member contact information
- Update CCL Chapter member interests

Text Opt-In
The “Text Opt-In” drop down will filter members by their status on receiving text messages from CCL (if they have provided a phone number). The default is all members. Note that many members have not indicated a preference. In that case CCL assumes they have opted-in to texts. See this article for instructions on how to download a spreadsheet of text opt-ins as well as other information.
Member Engagement Tab
This tab provides information on the level of each member’s engagement with CCL (called engagement segment). Engagement segment is determined by the activities a CCL member participates in over time, either individually or with a group. In addition this tab includes the member’s join date, if they’ve attended an info session and if they’ve completed climate advocate training, and several other fields.
If you sort “Engagement Segment” ascending, you will see the “highly engaged” and “engaged” members on top, which may be useful for recruiting members for an activity or project.
See this article for more information about engagement.
Privileges Tab
Privileges in CCL are roles with specific rights that can be granted to members.
They include: Chapter Admin, Media Manager, Chapter Grasstops Engagement Manager, Mobilization Manager, and Welcome Team Member.
Each privilege has a column. Members with a privilege have a check mark in that column. You can use the search fields to view just the members with a specific privilege, members that don’t have the privilege, or all members.
If you use the search filters, they will apply to the Roster Contact Info tab. Be sure to click the “Reset” button to clear the filters before switching tabs.
Group Leaders and Chapter Admins can grant or remove member privileges by clicking on the “Edit” button next to member name. This displays a pop up window. Be sure to click “save” when finished.
Note: You can also grant or remove privileges in the Member Contact Info tab by clicking on “Edit” and scrolling down.

Interests Tab
Interests are activities that CCL members may engage in. Among many, they include:
- Call or Write Representatives
- Tabling
- Public Speaking
- Coordinating Events
- Writing Letters to the Editor
A member can select activities that they are interested in in their Member Profile. Those interests are then indicated in the CCL Chapter Roster.
Group Leaders can filter the interests field to identify members to contact for participation in activities or projects. CCL Chapter Leaders or Group Admins can also update member interests in the roster, using the dropdown in the “Interests” columns. See this article for instructions.
New Members Tab
This tab shows members who have joined your group in the last 60 days. They may be new to CCL or a transfer from another chapter.
Email Opt Outs Tab
This is a list of people assigned to your group who have opted out of receiving email from CCL. They are not receiving newsletters, weekly bulletins, or any other bulk emails from CCL.
Assume that members on this list do not want to receive email from your chapter, unless you have reason to suspect otherwise. Please remove them from your contact lists.
If someone wishes to unsubscribe from CCL's email, please ask them to send their request to support@citizensclimatelobby.org from the email address to unsubscribe. CCL cannot process unsubscribe requests from a third party
Note: If you do a search or sort in one tab and then select another tab - the search results or ordering will be applied to the tab you moved to. You need to restore the original tab to default display before selecting another tab (unless you want to maintain the search results).
